The Beginning...
Established by Nigel Young in 2015 within a small unit in the market hall area of Stretford Arndale shopping centre, Reel Around The Fountain Records quickly gained a great reputation for selling top quality, fair priced second hand records.
A loyal customer base was quickly established, growing rapidly via positive 'word of mouth' reviews. Record buyers and sellers would visit Stretford to specifically seek out the shop to talk records & music with Nigel.
Challenges & Opportunities
As part of the Stretford Masterplan initiative the market hall area of the Arndale Centre was demolished in 2018. Resulting in relocation of the shop to a much larger unit on the upper balcony of the main shopping centre. This additional space meant a dramatic increase in stock of second hand Vinyl, CDs and Memorabilia.
Whilst in this location, the shop has gone from strength to strength, customers now visit from all over the UK and abroad to have a 'dig' through the racks. We even have the occasional celebrity visitor.
Focus has always been on the shop experience, with a minimal online presence.
The Future...
Progress never stops, and it is now time for the next phase of the redevelopment of the shopping centre, as the new 'Stretford Town Centre' becomes a reality.
Once again the shop was looking for a new home. Now relocated into the 'new' King Street, ironically into a space that was a record shop 60 years ago! We will continue the journey.
A decision was also made to expand the online side of the business, hence 'Fountain Records' was born. Taking the core principals that have served the physical store so well into the online world.
